Emerging solar-driven technologies for the built environment
Fabio Maria Montagnino is the Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The Cyprus Institute.
After a degree cum laude in physics and a fellowship in experimental and computational biophysics at the University of Palermo and the Italian National Research Council, he moved to the industrial sector as a manager of research and innovation projects. In 2003 he was among the founders of Consorzio ARCA, an innovation hub he’s been leading for fifteen years, pursuing its role in the European innovation ecosystem, as regional node of the EEN service network, EU-BIC certified incubator, EIT Health RIS Hub and host of two recognised Living Labs.
He directly established two incubators, and contributed to the implementation of innovation policies in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
He has been involved in more than 30 research and innovation projects and clustering actions, holding the role of coordinator in many of those. In the last decade, his main interest is the holistic combination of creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation, towards the sustainable development perspective.
Considered among the European leaders of innovation ecosystems by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, he’s the author of more than 30 publications and 3 patents.
